The Central Bucks Regional Police Commission is seeking applications for the position of Chief of Police. The police department provides full-time police service to the Boroughs of Chalfont, Doylestown, and New Britain. The Central Bucks Regional Police Commission is the responsible Authority governing, managing, operating and administering the Central Bucks Regional Police Department through a joint board appointed by the municipalities. The police department’s sworn officers and civilian personnel are under the direct supervision of the Police Chief. The department serves a population of over 16,000 residents in the three municipalities and currently has 30 sworn police officers. The final 2016 operating budget was 4.9 million dollars.
 
The successful candidate will have a proven record of integrity, strong leadership, along with the management, community outreach, and interpersonal skills to drive the police department forward along the path of progressive police service delivery. The successful candidate must be MPOETC Act 120 certified.
 
Candidates will have served at least 10 years of law enforcement experience with at least 5 years of command/supervisory experience. A Bachelor’s Degree in Police Science, Criminal Justice, Police Administration, Public Administration, or related field is required. In addition, applicants should be graduates of an advanced training course such as the FBI National Academy, Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, the Southern Police Institute, or other recognized and equivalent law enforcement training. A combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
 
The successful candidate will possess a demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in police department operations and practices including planning, budgeting, labor relations, current law enforcement technology, public administration, personnel administration and management, and knowledge of current law.  The ability to work cooperatively with the Commission, elected officials, municipal administration, citizens and civic leaders is required. Salary for the position will be based on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate must pass a physical and psychological examination and drug screening.  A thorough background examination will be conducted.
