Clayton County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for an Assistant Director/Information Technology
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field; supplemented by five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Must provide and maintain a personal vehicle to use to conduct official County business which may include after-hour return trips.
SOME OF THE ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES INCLUDE: Assist the Director of Information Technology in the day-to-day operations of the department performing the managerial and technical work associated with planning, coordinating, and implementing the development/redevelopment of projects while supervising and consulting with other staff members and maintaining liaison responsibility with all parties concerned. Supervises key Information Technology (IT) division supervisors as needed and acts as the Director in his/her absence. Manage resource utilization throughout all of IT; oversees the design, implementation, and support of Clayton County’s enterprise-computing, communications, and telecommunications infrastructure. Responsible, but not limited to, the planning and directing of the daily operation of one (1) or more of the department’s divisions on a 24/7/365 basis; assists with planning, developing, implementing, and managing the County’s information technology assets serving all departments; coordinates the preparation of divisional and departmental budgets; conducts and reviews feasibility studies; and implements new procedures to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the department. Manages customer relations with IT users and delivers IT services to customers in accordance with Service Level Agreements; evaluates computer technology and recommends optimal mix of both hardware and software requirements for planned needs. Assists in the formulation of policy and standards. Develops and implements security, continuity, and disaster recovery, and environmental safety measures; writes and evaluates procurement documents and legislation, and participates in vendor negotiations and contract administration; recommends and evaluates the purchase of hardware, software, and services; creates Request for Proposal (RFP) and/or bid specifications. Writes and evaluates technology-related business plans and cost benefit analyses; administers Capital Improvement Projects; prepares, conducts, and reviews feasibility studies for major IT projects; establishes work standards and training plans; and serves as liaison/consultant in the provision of IT project management and consulting services to other departments and agencies. Performs other related duties as required.
