Job Description:

“A Positive, Exemplary Community” The Town of Westerly is looking for candidates who are interested in physical management of the harbors and surrounding waters of Westerly, Little Narragansett Bay and Stonington Harbor.

The duties of the Pump Out Boat Operator, include pump out service to vessels in these areas as well as marina areas and the maintenance of the vessel and equipment. Close Boat Handling Certificate and Defibrillator training will be offered to those who accept the position. 

Qualifications: 
1) Must be proficient in safe boat handling- CT DEEP training or equivalent. 
2) Knowledge of rules of navigation and Maritime Law. 
3) Must have USCG launch operator’s license or at least 2 years’ experience in pump out boat operations and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in power boat vessel operation. 

Salary: The salary for new employee is $14.00 or $15.00 per hour. The salary for a returning employees is $16.00 per hour. 
Hours per week: 40 (mandatory work every other weekend) 
Trainee position: only works weekends
