Village Administrator/Treasurer - Cambridge, WI

Job Description:

The Village of Cambridge (pop. 1,457) is located on the Highway 12 corridor approximately 30 minutes east of Madison, and 20 minutes northwest of Fort Atkinson. The Village is located largely within Dane County, with a small percentage of property in Jefferson County. Highway 12 passes through the heart of the community, providing convenient access and significant visibility for downtown businesses.
Cambridge enjoys significant name recognition due to its success as an arts destination in the mid and late 1990’s, driven in large part by the efforts of Rowe Pottery to attract potters to the area and subsequent marketing and advertising. This success encouraged many other startup businesses, creating a unique downtown shopping experience which attracted local and regional visitors.
The Village operates under a Village Board–Village President form of government including six elected Village Board members. There are five appointed officials including the Village Treasurer/Administrator, City Clerk, Director of Public Works, and Utility Superintendent. The Village has more than 10 FTEs, with an annual expenditures exceeding $5.3 million (all funds, including utilities).
The Village of Cambridge is seeking a collaborative, strategic-thinking professional with strong leadership and financial management skills. A strong knowledge of governmental accounting, auditing, budget development and maintenance, debt service management, tax calculation and collection, and treasury functions is needed. A successful candidate must be willing to perform the day-to-day functions of a Treasurer and a willingness to become a Certified Municipal Treasurer of Wisconsin. A background in intergovernmental relations and economic development is also desired.
Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in public finance, public management, accounting or related field. Three to five years of increasingly responsible municipal financial experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skill and abilities. Candidates must possess proven managerial, interpersonal and leadership skills to direct a resident-forward Village team serving a full-service community.  Current salary range: approximately $58,000 – $63,000 DOQ. Excellent benefit package. Candidates interested in applying should submit a Village application, resume, cover letter along with contact information for five related references by email before June 2, 2017 to jobs@ipr-p3.com.   Additional information about the Village of Cambridge and the Village application form can be found on the Village’s website: www.ci.cambridge.wi.us.
