Job Description:

The City of Stockbridge in Henry County is seeking a City Manager. Stockbridge is a diverse city of approximately 28,000 residents located approximately thirty minutes south of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The City operates with a staff of approximately 70 full-time employees and a combined operating and capital budget of $22 million. The City spans 13.75 square miles. Stockbridge is financially healthy, has no city property taxes and is funded primarily through local option sales tax revenues and other tax revenues and fees.
The City government operates under the council/city manager form of government in accordance with its Charter. Accordingly, the City has five elected Council members and a Mayor.  The City Manager is appointed by the City Council.  
The City Manager is an executive level position within the City of Stockbridge with the responsibility of implementing policy direction established by the City Council.  The City Manager provides management and leadership over all the affairs of the City and oversees department heads and subordinate staff in areas such as budget development and management, council meeting coordination, report preparation, initiating and implementing opportunities to enhance municipal service delivery, and striving for continuous improvement in all core City functions.  The City Manager must be able to effectively guide a motivated and talented team of professionals who possess the expertise, enthusiasm and work ethic needed to ensure responsive and collaborative service.  The successful applicant will be an activist in meeting challenges before the City; one who sets the example for others and inspires the staff to assume individual and collective responsibility.  The City Manager must be experienced in municipal finance and in developing and maintaining a sustainable financial structure.  He or she must be innovative and bring workable approaches to providing effective and efficient public service.
Prior experience as a city manager, assistant city manager, deputy city manager or executive director of a public-sector organization is required.  A BA/BS in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field supplemented by ten (10) years of progressively responsible administrative and management experience in local government; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is required.  A Master’s degree in business administration or public administration is highly desirable.  Must be bondable.

Salary range: $88,982.00 to $131,497.00. The City offers an excellent benefits package including 100% paid employee health benefits, 100% paid pension and no social security taxes. Residency in the City of Stockbridge is not required.
