Job Description:

Town Manager – Madison. The Town of Madison, population 2,200, is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Town Manager. Madison is located in southwest Rockingham County, approximately 30 miles from GreensboroHigh Point and Winston Salem North Carolina and 15 miles from the southern border of Virginia. This location provides close proximity to the Piedmont Triad International Airport and Interstates 85 & 40. The Town government is comprised of a Mayor and six Aldermen. Aldermen are elected to staggered four year terms with the Mayor being elected every two years. The Manager carries out the administration of day-to day operations with the Aldermen setting policy and approving the annual budget. The Town has a staff of 37 full time employees, which includes administration, finance, police and fire protection, public works, water and sewer, and planning and zoning. The approved budget for 2016-17 is $4,862,585. The desired qualifications include graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in public administration, business or a related field. A successful candidate will be an experienced public administrator with 5 years experience of progressive leadership experience, including senior management experience, preferable in North Carolina municipal government administration. Candidates should possess accomplishments in budgeting, demonstrated communication skills, community involvement, and effectively represent the Town publicly while positively engaging citizens. Grant writing, economic development experience and team building skills will also be necessary.
