As an advanced level analyst, you will be adding a skill set to assist team members in the support of systems which are growing in complexity, or will be new to the organization.  Additionally, you will utilize your Microsoft (MS) SQL Server skills to implement, migrate, upgrade, integrate and enhance application systems; analyze and trouble-shoot problems as well as resolve software issues; and collaborate with the Database Administration staff, Project Management resources and Technical Managers through the life cycle of each major initiative.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

This advanced level analyst position will perform the following responsibilities:
 

  • Maintains the operational integrity of business applications in the technology areas assigned.
  • Collaborates with users and departments to analyze current and projected data information, needs and resources required.
  • Develops detailed requirements documents and design specifications, definitions, flow charts, diagrams, performance criteria, and testing methods, (SQL Server based preferred), for maintaining both new and existing systems.
  • Writes, develops, and documents operational procedures for data elements and sources.
  • Assists with the coordination of systems maintenance, testing, and production job runs.
  • Plans schedules for implementation, monitors progress, and develops and provides training and technical guidance to users and staff in the use of new or modified systems and procedures.
  • Assists with the migration of current databases into new database structures when required.
  • Provides professional data analysis and programming, (SQL Server based preferred), in the technology areas assigned.
  • Installs, configures, and implements new third party vendor databases and applications.
  • Provides technical assistance and training to support IT analysts and contractors in the development, testing, debugging, and implementation of new or modified systems.
  • Assists in the monitoring of day-to-day operations, performance, and space requirements of Microsoft SQL-Server database.
  • Develops and works with MS SQL Server based reporting solutions or SQL Server methodologies, such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), stored procedures, and views.
  • Works in partnership with departmental customers and supports mass print job requests as required.
  • Collaborates with and supports mobile solutions.
  • Provides end-user support in technology areas as assigned.
  • Demonstrates expertise in presentation and management and end-user interactions.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education and Experience:
A typical way to obtain the minimum required knowledge, skills and abilities would be:

  1. A Bachelor's Degree in computer science, business administration, or related field; AND
  2. Four (4) years of experience providing professional level information technology analysis and support, which will include bulleted criteria below: OR
  3. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to eight (8) years of experience providing professional level information technology analysis and support, which will include the bulleted criteria listed below:
  • Performing MS SQL Server queries and programming, including writing complex queries, developing stored procedures, using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, developing and publishing packages using SQL Services Integration Services (SSIS) for data package transfer between servers using Microsoft Visual Studio, and developing reports using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS);
  • Participating in formal presentations, conducting formal meetings, explaining technical and complex information to users and management; and ability to design and analyze and provide documentation on processes and procedures for advanced systems;
  • Working knowledge of general IT technologies from LAN/WAN, wireless and basic IT infrastructure (servers) and hardware (PC, laptop);
  • Providing peripheral support as required, but not limited to, Mobile devices, scanners, bar code scanner wands, printers, etc.; and
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with individuals, the public, or coworkers, representing diverse groups and backgrounds.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Washington County is committed to using a Merit Based System in which recruiting, selecting, and advancing employees is based on their relative knowledge, skills, and abilities.


Selection Process:
1. An evaluation of training and experience of submitted applications will be performed by Human Resources as applications are submitted.

2. A Subject Matter Expert (SME) Panel will perform an evaluation of experience and training taken from your employment application materials to include responses to the supplemental questions. This process will begin after May 29, 2017.

3. A DMV records check (covering the last 3 year period) will be performed on candidates that pass the SME evaluation step in the selection process.   Out-of-state candidates, or candidates that have possessed a non-Oregon DMV license may wait until the results of the SME evaluations have been posted before submitting their DMV records.

4. Our goal is to schedule oral panel interviews with candidates that successfully passed the SME evaluation step and the DMV records check as soon as possible.
