Crime Scene Investigator/Evidence Technician - Lexington, SC


Job Description:

Position hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and as needed

Job duties: 

  • Secures crime scenes, takes measurements, sketches detailed diagrams and takes pictures of the entire scene
  • Documents all of the evidence collected; labels all evidence and packages it properly for preservation; and attends autopsies and takes photos and notes
  • Logs, labels, packages, stores and maintains the security of all evidence and property seized by the department according to established policies and procedures; verifies item descriptions; and packages items properly to maintain integrity of item

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of three years of experience as a full-time crime scene investigator preferably with a large agency
  • Must be at least 21 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent (bachelor's degree in forensics or related science preferred) and possess a valid state driver's license
  • Must be in good health and able to meet the Lexington Police Department's physical fitness requirements and be of good character with no criminal record

Pay info: $44,171 – $61,838 (midpoint: $53,005) annually
