Job Description:

Picturesque Cumberland County is the State’s most populous county having a population of 289,977. Its largest city is Portland and the county geographically extends from Casco Bay to the Lakes Region. Cumberland County has the second largest body of water in the state, Sebago Lake, which provides numerous recreational opportunities. The County is the economic and industrial center of the state, having a strong corporate presence of major domestic and international companies.  The County has over 450 dedicated employees, all focused on providing the best customer service to the County residents.  Cumberland County is represented by five elected county commissioners and the county manager runs the daily operations. JOB PURPOSE:  To coordinate and oversee the internal and external operations of Emergency Management Agency.   Coordinates the department’s quality assurance program.  Provides technical assistance and coordinates the development of emergency operations plans.  Provides planning integration with external public and private partners.  Serves as the EMA Director in his/her absence.  Performs all other related work as required. QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Emergency Management, driver’s license and NIMS Certification required, HSEEP Certification desired. Must be comfortable with Public Speaking, meeting coordination, and meeting moderation, familiar with local governments and Emergency Management Agency programs, and have an understanding of state and federal laws, experience preparing budgets, and proficiency in word processing. Knowledge of contemporary emergency communications and telephone systems, internet, and emergency management systems and ability to work independently and to coordinate the efforts of individuals and organizations required.
